Politics[edit]
The mayor of the sector is Daniel Florea, a member of the Social Democratic Party. He was elected in 2016 for a four-year term, defeating incumbent Marian Vanghelie, an independent at the time but previously a member of the PSD as well, who had been mayor since 2000. The Local Council of Sector 5 has 27 seats, with the following party composition (as of 2016):
